Jim Mulhern Forever Families Fund

According to an ancient Chinese belief, an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place and circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break. That red thread led Jim Mulhern and his wife, Barbara Caparell to travel to China twice to adopt their 2 daughters, Arian JiLan and Alena YiXiang.  Jim was a loving, caring father who adored his 2 daughters.  He was a very hands-on Dad and committed himself to raising his girls to be kind, respectful, responsible, resilient, resourceful and have a zest for life.   Jim gave of himself not only to his family but to all those around him.  He was a gentle giant who was a friend to many with no pretenses or agenda.  Jim’s most endearing quality was his big heart.  He would do anything for anyone and relished the opportunity to help others.  Jim embraced honor, integrity and compassion.  He lived his life simply, spiritually and selflessly.  On May 10, 2006, just 6 months after returning from China with his youngest daughter, Alena, Jim passed away at the age of 45.  Ironically, it was his big heart that ultimately failed him just as it had failed his own Dad at the same age.
