The Jim Mulhern Forever Families Fund is dedicated to supporting Forever Families that were created by adoption by providing assistance to families with financial, educational, health or catastrophic needs, by promoting an understanding of transracial adoption and embracing diverse cultural identity and by enriching and enhancing a child’s quality of life.
According to an ancient Chinese belief, an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place and circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break. That red thread led Jim Mulhern and his wife, Barbara Caparell to travel to China twice to adopt their 2 daughters, Arian JiLan and Alena YiXiang. Unfortunately, on May 10, 2006, just 6 months after returning from China with his youngest daughter, Jim passed away suddenly at the young age of 45. Although his life was unexpectedly cut short his spirt lives on through his Wife and children and the Jim Mulhern Forever Families Fund.
